This genetic diversity is what can be a major contributor to the wolves' survival across Europe. It's true that hunters and cities do not discriminate between genetically stable wolves and those who are not, but if a species is more genetically diverse, it's less likely that its offspring will be taken by disease or lack the cognitive skills needed for hunting prey. If there are more chances these pups will reach adulthood, it means there's more chance they'll birth offspring of their own, and so on. And that's such a big step towards restoring a wild population of an animal we want to keep on seeing thriving in its natural habitat.
Politics is sometimes such a hindrance to wildlife conservation efforts. Laws and regulations are stuck in endless bureaucratic circles before they come into effect, so illegal hunters cannot be punished as they should. Again, it's human interference that prevents wild animals from thriving. We hope that changes soon for the wolves across Europe.
